iPhone App

Was thinking of a way we could all interact our specialist areas into one, so we all have a comfort zone we can work on. Thought that maybe we could do something on the lines of using an iPhone as the main point of interaction with a projector. Creating characters using the iPhone and then being able to drag them onto the projector, into this animated world. And then using the phone as a controller, tilt to the left (move to the left) you get the idea....

And then advertise it, show how it works. Where you can get it from etc....

Let me know what you think.

just found this while reaserching for this essay gave me a few ideas.

"Perhaps you are a sculptor who would like different sounds or videos to play based on how someone touches your sculpture"

we could try something with sound maybe some kind of mad design work on a wall that when the user walks into different places new effects trigger its klind of like interactive graffiti. i dont know thought id share see if any of you guys can use it for inspiration

Sony Eyepet

Read an article the other day that made me think of this project and could be worth a look, its a project Sony are developing for the Playstation called Eyepet, which takes a video feed of the user and puts a virtual pet over the top of it, creating the illusion that there is a small animal/monster on your desk, floor etc. An amazing element of this product however is the interaction you can have with the onscreen creature by interacting with it how you would in real life, for example if you stroke the air where it would be, on screen it will react as it would if you were stroking it, erm, probably not explaining it very well so heres a link that could be helpful in our idea development

First ideas:

First idea I have had since we have been given this project is the concept of a sensor that can detect air, or maybe even a sound sensor that would pick up the user blowing into/onto it, and when the user does this, they are given some sort of visual feedback, maybe in the form of a windmill blowing on screen for instance, or perhaps something that would perhaps take a more technical approach would be leaves being blown around the screen as they would in real life.
The Nintendo ds has a microphone input that is used in a similar idea, so it could be seen as a bit of a steal however...

This is just an initial idea I had when we were told about the brief. The idea is make an interactive area for the user to play god. The projector will create the image of the wilderness area and a camera will track the users hands (use of a glove of some kind would probably make this workable) the user will then be able to open a tool bar on the side of the screen in which he will be able to pick up (by closing the glove on an object) and place down (by opening the glove) maybe a tree or some kind of creature. The user will also be able to create hazards like volcano’s lighting and so on. The aim would be to create a colony of creatures or destroy them.

I realise this project is unrealistic as a final project for us to go for but could inspire some spin off ideas maybe.
